ND Kukui Nut Lei
The Kukui (pronounced 'coo coo ee') nut is harvested from the official Hawaiian state tree for its oil which is used for cooking, fuel, and lotion. The shell is then hollowed, dried, polished, painted, and strung together into a kukui nut necklace. Once worn by reigning Hawaiian chiefs and kings, these kukui necklacesare now worn by all as a symbol of good luck. 32'
